DAVE'S CORNER
“DARE TO BE A DANIEL”
Our ten week “Dare to be a Daniel” starts on Sunday, January 1, and goes through March 11, 2012. I just want to remind you of the pledge you made back in November to take part in this program for Renewal in 2012. It was outstanding to see the number of you who committed to “Dare to be a Daniel.”
This is to be the beginning of a great year in the life of Central Christian Church—a year of Renewal.
The “Dare to be a Daniel” program is very important to the beginning of this year of Renewal of our love for Jesus Christ and His mission, Renewal of Servanthood, and Renewal of Strategic Prayer efforts.
For ten weeks we are to pray three times a day on one subject for a week. The first week of prayer is concentrated prayer on how we can love God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength. Each week following, we will be praying on a different subject. Let us enter into our closet and talk to God three times a day.
For ten weeks we are to be doing a “partial fast.” The point of a fast is to draw closer to God and be listening for what He has for us in our Christian life. We deny self to get closer to God. We give up something to give that time and energy to God to overcome the desires of the flesh so we can have a great desire to be with the Lord. The more we remove ourselves from earthly things the more fit we are for communion with God.
Whenever Jesus had something great to do in His ministry, He spent much time in prayer and fasting. We need to get ready for something great and wonderful to happen in our lives and in the life of the church. This ten weeks is a time of preparation for marvelous and wonderful things to begin to happen in our lives and the life of the church.
Let us get ready to see the Holy Spirit working in our lives and God doing great things here at Central.
We will end this ten weeks of prayer and partial fasting with our annual “30-hour famine” Saturday, March 10 and Sunday, March 11.

Remember, we begin our 2012 Year of Renewal with the “Dare to be a Daniel” program on Sunday, January 1, 2012. This is to be ten weeks of concentrated prayer three times a day on one subject. This is also to be ten weeks of partial fasting to get our mind, heart, and soul focused on Christ and His service.
